Whether you’re new to acting or have acted all of your life, you’ll find that performing an audiobook is a unique challenge.

A professional voiceover talent since 1999, I now work almost exclusively in audiobooks. I have narrated over 50 titles, all from my home studio. You can see a list of my titles on Audible at this link: http://j.mp/KarenComminsOnAudible

In addition to earning a BA in Broadcast Journalism and an MS in Computer Information Systems, I have completed extensive specialized training in voiceover and audiobook narration technique, as well as digital audio production.

When I'm not narrating, I write articles about audiobooks for my blog and other sites, curate and maintain information for authors seeking to create audiobooks, and offer helpful advice to narrators in several Facebook groups.

Here are some of the topics we can cover in our PivotPlanet session(s):

-- Assess whether you'd like the job of being a freelance audiobook narrator
-- Understand the audiobook production process
-- Discuss home studio requirements
-- Learn tactics to get started narrating books
-- Uncover pitfalls and scams to avoid
-- Improve profiles and auditions
-- Get referrals to coaches who can help you develop your performance skills and editors who can make you sound your best

My calling is helping people figure out what's important to them and then set a course to live their dream life!

Let's face it -- most people spend more time planning their vacations than planning their lives.

However, you'll need solid information from an audiobook industry veteran if you want to become a successful audiobook narrator in this highly competitive field.

No two people take the same path. Building any career is an evolutionary process, but this point is especially true in the performing arts.

I recorded my first book for a commercial publisher in 2002 and have produced and narrated over 50 more since that time, all from my home studio.

-- Audible Approved Producer
-- Juror for Voice Arts Awards, 2016 and 2017
-- Member of the Audio Publishers Association 2002-present
-- Audiobook columnist for InD'tale Magazine and DigitalBookWorld.com

I invite you to visit my web site to read performance reviews, watch more videos, and learn details in my many blogs posts aimed at audiobook narrators.
