Merilee Hennings

I have more than ten years experience running EverAfter Events, a high-end wedding and event planning company. I have two assistants and in addition to planning weddings, we run a wedding planning course to teach others to do what we do.

I got into this career, because, as a single mom, I knew if I was going to away from my son, I wanted it to be doing something I loved.

EverAfter is one of the premier wedding planning companies in the country. We’re located in San Diego, which is the third largest city for destination weddings in the US.

EverAfter Events is a full service wedding and event planning company. Our company is comprised of experienced and creative planners who have been together as a team for the past nine years. We are located in San Diego, CA, but we travel wherever our clients need us to travel.

Planning weddings and events is my passion. It doesn’t feel like work to me, and I am so blessed to have found this industry that I love so much. I gain the great satisfaction from being a part of a beautifully orchestrated celebration of joy.

When I graduated from college with a degree in psychology, (which I put to use in this job!) I asked my friends what they thought my strengths and talents were. They all said I came alive when they saw me planning a party. I asked a family friend if I could assist in her wedding planning business and I fell in love with the job and the industry.

When I started out, I read every book on weddings I could get my hands on and became a certified wedding planner. Two years later I started this business with my mom. I continue to learn about the industry from everyone I come in contact with.

Since this is my passion, it is easy for me to talk to other people about it and help them discover if this is really the profession for them. My company has been featured in many magazines, TV and radio shows all over the US.

Our business focus is on high-end clients whose budgets are typically more than $60,000. We’ve planned weddings for 10 people up to 1,000 and our clients include celebrities, sports stars and average working people.

It takes about three years to get a business up and going. It will take about that long to make a living and do event planning full time. How much a person can make is really up to them. The sky is the limit!
