Although owning a horse boarding and riding lesson facility is a 7-days a week, 24-hours a day job, it never feels like work to me. Horses are amazing animals and to work with them is a privilege from which I never tire.

Most people in my business get their start much younger than I did. I began riding and working with horses in 1992 at 29. My only regret is that I let others deter me from following my passion sooner. It’s never too late to start something new!

Years later, as a CHA-certified riding instructor, my main areas of responsibility are the welfare of horses under my care and the safety and well being of my students.

I would like you to know that there are many opportunities available in the horse industry. Depending on your experience and willingness to invest time and energy, you can easily transition into a lifestyle working with horses in some manner.

MORE

Prior to entering the equine industry, I worked for an airline, in hotel marketing and in real estate. Although I loved those jobs, nothing feeds my soul like caring for horses. I was able to translate the skills I learned at previous jobs into this one and I can help you do the same.

I started our horse boarding/riding lesson stable to improve the well-being of horse owners and of horses. It is a business that I own and manage. It provides me with endless hours of joy, and a true appreciation of the relationship between horses and humans. Being a small, private stable enables me to offset the cost of owning my own horses. People and horses have a special bond and it’s a joy for me to share what I know about horses with people.

I’m a CHA-certified riding instructor and am able to help others with the certification process. In addition to teaching you about the horse industry, I can give expert advice on business management, advertising and marketing. I pride myself on staying on top of new technology. Don’t be satisfied with, “That’s the way it’s always been done.”

In addition to having the opportunity to work with horses each day, I’ve had some other amazing experiences since getting into this line of work. For many years I’ve volunteered for the Rolex 3-Day event as an obstacle communicator and, in 2010, I was a Foreign Language Supervisor for the World Equestrian Games held in Lexington, Kentucky.
